This past weekend, I finally finished editing the 1500 photos I shot during the Justin Courtney Pierre show with Youth Gangs and Pronoun at the 7th Street Entry. Maybe it was the amazing talent on stage or the intimacy of the space, but I've never been in a more enthusiastic and supportive crowd. (And, next time I'm at the Turf Club, I'm treating myself to this shirt.)
Cedar Manor Halloween Party
From teeny-tiny Oompa Loompas to Bob Ross to Pokemon, our neighbors go all out for Halloween and create some pretty fantastic costumes.
Behind the scenes of 'Undone'
I showed up to photograph a wedding and became part of a music video for Justin Courtney Pierre's new album, ‘In the Drink,’ which comes out on Friday, October 12. I cannot think of a better way to spend the day than eating pizza in a soybean field with these talented and hilarious folks.
The bride Lydia Liza was not harmed during the making of this video, but the groom Jason Douglas was repeatedly kicked in the crotch.
Jason had one of my favorite quotes of the day, "When I first saw Justin Courtney Pierre play a show a few years ago, I thought to myself, 'Yeah, some day this guy is totally going to kick me in the nuts. It will be awesome.'" Two weeks later, he's recovering nicely.
Justin and the lovely Melissa Paakh (who named first runner-up in the Miss Minnesota USA 2018 pageant) crashed the wedding for reasons unknown. Jealousy? Revenge? A high school grudge? Whatever the reason, You can see for yourself that Justin totally deserved this punch in the face.
One thing lost in translation on this shoot was the beautiful red color of the get-away car, a 1970’s Delta 88 Oldsmobile. It looked stunning against the gray skies and yellow fields.
Apple Picking at Fall Harvest Orchard
In Minnesota, home of the Honeycrisp apple, many amazing u-pick-em orchards are less than an hour’s drive away. Corn mazes, tractor rides, and even hard cider for grown-ups, each orchard has something different to offer. Right now, our family is in love with Fall Harvest Orchard in Montrose. It’s a small family run orchard with a great variety of apples — and animals — which my daughter absolutely adores.
